Cynthia Nicholas of Auburn, who has been teaching Zumba classes in the Lewiston-Auburn area for three years, recently got together with other ZumbaME instructors Dinah Aldrich, Nina Alves and Antonio Garreton to bring the founder of Zumba Fitness, Beto Perez, to Maine for a master class that was open to the public. The event took place Jan. 26 at the Eastland Park Hotel ballroom. Zumba is a Latin-inspired fitness program combining Latin as well as international music with dance/fitness routines to create a fun and effective cardiovascular workout. Nicholas, who completed her training in 2006, teaches six classes per week at the CMMC Wellness Center Yoga Center of Maine in Auburn. Perez, 38, a native of Colombia, came to the United States and launched Zumba Fitness in 2002. For more information on Nicholas’ Zumba classes, call 344-8638, or visit www.zumbame.com. Shown are, from left, Aldrich, Nicholas, Perez, Alves and Garreton.
