Individuals should consider very seriously what passing the so-called Employee Free Choice Act would really mean.
The National Labor Relations Act has been safeguarding employees’ free choice of whether to be represented by a union or not for more than 60 years. It is there now for all of us and has worked very well to give time and healthy debate to consider the entire picture, weigh all sides of the issues and then vote in a secret ballot election. That is truly making a free choice for change.
The Employee Free Choice Act takes away both the time to study all sides of the issues and the right to vote in a secret ballot election. If the majority of your fellow employees sign cards, you will be in the union, whether you agree or not.
Where is the free choice in that?
Make an informed decision by looking into what the EFCA really means.
Let’s not confuse our right to be fairly represented by a labor union with its need to increase membership in these times when statistics show a continuing decrease in union membership.
