President Barack Obama must not have seen “Jurassic Park.” That movie was a profound allegory and meditation on the dangers of humans meddling in nature. Examples abound, especially the recent, reckless obsession to throw embryonic stem cells at chronic diseases in hopes advances will result, despite poor reasoning, the danger of tumor generation, HIV transfer and other disasters.
One complication is little noted to date: This is another nail in the coffin of transcendent faith and belief in contemporary life. By use of the religion of “science,” coupled with judicial and government activism, life itself is being profaned, desecrated, and rendered meaningless, as people are chained to the mundane, the secular, the materialistic. Money and consumerism are deified. All religious belief is undermined, and the clergy are rendered obsolete.
Virtue, the currency of a republic, is out; vice in (just don’t get caught). Usury, gambling, pornography and social injustice are normal. Ethics and morals are irrelevant. Only government force can shape behavior. Religion and conscience are dead.
Politics is the nation’s established religion, the First Amendment notwithstanding.
This is dialectic materialism of our own kind, the same thing the Soviets used to practice.
Life and death became matters of social engineering alone, as is happening here.
Do people want this? Have they democratically chosen it?
When the USSR imploded, the first thing people did was rebuild churches. Is that our destiny? Will it be too late?
Don’t we deserve better from leaders, or will God continue to be mocked?
