Young at Heart

AUBURN – The Young at Heart Fellowship will meet Tuesday, March 24, at Court Street Baptist Church. The business meeting will start at 11 a.m. followed by devotions led by Lena Kanda. There will be a bag lunch at noon. Members should bring place setting and items for the food cupboard.

A program will be presented by Bobbie LaChance and her seeing eye dog. All senior citizens and their guests are welcome.

Farm bill

POLAND SPRING – An informational meeting on Maine forestry and the 2008 Farm Bill will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Poland Spring Inn Conference Center, 115 Preservation Way.

The bill increases the emphasis on forest land and forestry activities for landowners and managers. The meeting will include information about how this and other assistance programs can help people care for their woodlands.

Registration

TURNER – Kindergarten registration will be held on Thursday and Friday, April 9 and 10, at Turner Primary School. Those who have not made an appointment should call Pat or Jan at 225-3655.

Child must be age 5 on or before Oct. 15. An original birth certificate and immunization records will be required.

An information night will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at the school.

Scout campfire

AUBURN – Girl Scouts of Maine will hold an indoor campfire and sing-a-long at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Auburn Middle School.

The free event is for Girl Scout members. There is a $10 membership fee and assistance is available.

Girls must be accompanied by an adult.

Art club program

AUBURN – The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the High Street Congregational Church.

Ila Green will be the guest speaker and the topic will be “Laughter is Good Medicine.”

Green earned a bachelor of arts degree in English at the University of Maine in Orono and a master of science in education degree in school counseling from the University of Southern Maine.

She taught in Maine schools for 30 years, retiring in 1998. She dabbles in art and took an undergraduate class from artist Dr. Vincent Hartgan. She has taught art classes and laughter classes at Senior College at USM-LA.

Hostesses will be Jean Hawthorne, Eleanor Truitt, Grace Keene and Donna Sweetser. Members are asked to bring their favorite toy.
