PORTLAND (AP) – A 35-year-old Brunswick man charged with elevated aggravated assault following an early morning stabbing in Portland’s Old Port area is being held in the Cumberland County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.

Police were called at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday to Wharf Street in the popular nightlife area, where they found a 30-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his torso. The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they arrested Robert Valley as he was attempting to flee the area and recovered a knife believed used in the assault.
