LEWISTON – Cora Miriam Woodruff, 87, of Old Danville Road, Auburn, died Wednesday, March 18, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Affectionately known as “Mimi,” she was born in New York City, on Aug. 14, 1921, the daughter of the late Russell and Miriam Miller Ferguson. She was educated in New York schools and held degrees from Buffalo Teachers’ College and Adelphi College.
She was married to Herbert Woodruff, who predeceased her. She and her husband lived many years in Mendham, N.J., where she taught at the Mendham Elementary School for 35 years. Upon retirement in 1983, she moved to Auburn.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening and caring for her family’s dogs and cats.
She is survived by a sister, Barbara Beegel of Auburn; a brother, Jeremiah R. Ferguson and wife, Audrus, of Penn Yan, N.Y.; a niece, Susan Beegel of Phippsburg; and a nephew, Jeremiah L. Ferguson of Lenox, Iowa.
