HOULTON (AP) – Firearms maker Smith & Wesson Corp. says it has turned out its 6 millionth pair of handcuffs at its plant in the northern Maine town of Houlton.

The plant produces more than 44 types of restraints, including handcuffs, restraint chains and leg irons. They are used by law enforcement agencies, security divisions and military organizations worldwide.

The facility, which opened in 1966, has 150 employees. It also produces Smith & Wesson and Walther pistols.
