FARMINGTON – A man charged in the death of his girlfriend’s 17-month-old son in November in Wilton was among 49 people indicted Wednesday by a Franklin County grand jury.

David Cook, 26, of Wilton was indicted on a charge of manslaughter connected to the death of Matteo Hanson on Nov. 29 at the Fernwold apartment of the child’s mother, Brandy S. Swett. She was at work at the time.

Cook told police the boy fell down a flight of stairs, possibly pushed by a young sibling while he was baby-sitting.

However, a state medical examiner who performed an autopsy on Hanson said the boy died from extensive blunt-force trauma to the torso, consistent with being severely kicked or punched.

Jamie Badeau, 24, of Wilton, who put her property up as bail for Cook, was also indicted Wednesday on a charge of aggravated forgery. Badeau’s property was found to be held as collateral in a bank loan and didn’t have the $100,000 surety needed to get Cook out of jail, police said previously.

In another case, Paul Tracy, 44, of Industry was indicted on 34 charges, including gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact and possession of sexually explicit materials. The alleged incidents involved a boy under 18 and occurred from January 1997 to Dec. 31, 2008, according to the indictment.
