Dear Sun Spots: I recently obtained a large box of old negatives of family photos (some at least 40 to 50 years old). Is there anyone in the area or in Maine that can reprint pictures for me or put these negatives on a CD for me? Thank you for your help. – Debby, Auburn.

Answer: The staff at Photo Finish, located in the Auburn Mall, will be happy to help with your negatives. They have employees who have been trained and have experience working with old photos and negatives, and they can print pictures for you and put them directly on a CD.

The employee we spoke with suggested putting the photos on a CD first. Then you could view them individually and determine which prints you wanted developed. She also noted that your negatives will never leave the store; all the work will be done in their laboratory.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. You can drop your negatives off during those hours.

If you’d like to speak with someone in the lab about your negatives or have questions about the work that is going to be done, you should note that the lab closes at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and around 4 p.m. on Sunday, but you can drop them off anytime.

Dear Sun Spots: I was wondering if you could help me. I have some really old buttons and am interested in finding a buyer. Thank you. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
In addition to responses from readers, contact Orphan Annie’s, Court Street in Auburn, to see if they would be interested in them, at 782-0638.

Dear Sun Spots: I want to thank everyone for sending me all the patterns for two-needle mittens. Now I can make mittens again for those who need them. I don’t have a computer so hope everyone sees this. A great big thank you. – No Name, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I have tried to call Bix in Auburn several times and left messages but they do not call back. You have helped me many times before, would you know someone else who could call me about stripping some small tables? I appreciate all the help I can get. – Monica, Lewiston.

Answer:
We called Bix Furniture Stripping and it seems they were on vacation at the time of your calls and have since returned.
