LEWISTON – The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the Ramada Inn. A social half hour will be followed by lunch at noon. There will be a short business meeting after the speaker.

Lewiston Police Detective Lee Jones, Criminal Investigation Department, will present a program on identity theft, scams and personal safety for the elderly, including elder abuse issues and home safety.

Jones has been a Lewiston officer since 1986. In January 2005, he was promoted to detective, White Collar Division, and has been assigned as the domestic violence coordinator for the city.

A brief report will also be given by Claire Breton and Roland Metayer, NARFE Legislative Committee members of the conference they attended in Washington, D.C. They met with congressional representatives, including a one-on-one discussion with Sen. Susan Collins regarding NARFE’s Legislative Program for 2009.

Plans for the meeting were made at a recent board session at the home of Vi Dumais. Attending were Martha Robinson, Barbara Lake, Doris Hamil, Roland Metayer and Claire Breton.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 28, when speaker will be State Sen. Margaret Craven. New members are welcome. For more information, visit www.NARFE.org.
