SOUTH BERWICK – The second show of the winter guard season, sponsored by the Maine Band Directors Association, was held at Marshwood High School on March 15.
The show consisted of six color guard groups performing for ratings and two percussion ensembles performing in exhibition. The guards were adjudicated in the areas of general effect, ensemble analysis, equipment analysis, and movement analysis and received star ratings ranging from one to four stars in each area as well as an overall star rating.
Leavitt Area High School, Marshwood High School and Sanford High School received overall ratings of two stars. Leavitt and Marshwood received threes stars for movement analysis and equipment analysis, and Sanford received three stars for equipment analysis and general effect.
Greely, South Portland and the Maine Attraction received overall ratings of three stars. The Maine Attraction received four stars in the areas of equipment analysis and ensemble analysis.
Edward Little High School and Marshwood High School percussion ensembles performed in exhibition.
The finals will be held at Sanford High School at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 22. Overall ratings for the guards will be converted to gold, silver and bronze medals. Admission to the finals is $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.
