ORONO (AP) – Officials at the University of Maine in Orono say someone on campus is being treated for tuberculosis.

Health and UMaine officials say the person is recovering. Meanwhile, they are working to identify any potential risk to others on campus.

UMaine says the number of people even remotely at risk is small. The school says it will contact anyone health officials believe should be tested.

TB can be spread through the air when a person who has TB coughs. Health officials say spread of the disease requires prolonged, close contact, and even then, is rare.
