WILTON – Lt. Richard Caton IV has resigned from the Wilton Police Department to take a position as a patrolman in Jay.

Town Manager Rhonda Irish confirmed his resignation Friday and said his last day in Wilton is April 2.

Caton, 28, will again patrol the streets of Jay starting April 3. He was hired by Jay police Chief Larry White Sr. in December 2003 and graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in December 2004.

He left Jay when he was hired as a lieutenant for Wilton by Chief Dennis Brown in May 2007.
