SOUTH PORTLAND (AP) – Existing home sales in Maine tumbled 22 percent in February over the same month last year, while the median sales price fell 17 percent.

The Maine Association of Realtors reported Monday that 433 single-family homes were sold last month, down from 555 in February 2008. The median sales price was $158,000, down from $190,000.

All 16 counties reported price declines between December and February. The median price was nearly flat in Waldo County while Piscataquis County had a 61 percent drop.

Sales during the quarter rose 13 percent in Sagadahoc County, the only county to record an increase. Sales declines ranged from 4 percent in Somerset County to 60 percent in Franklin County.
