PORTLAND (AP) – One Maine restaurant and chefs at two others are among the nominees for this year’s James Beard Foundation Awards.
Fore Street, a Portland restaurant owned by chef Sam Hayward, Victor Leon and Dana Street, was nominated for “Best Restaurant.” Others in the category include Babbo in New York, Boulevard in San Francisco, Highlands Bar & Grill in Birmingham, Ala., and Jean Georges in New York.
Nominees for Best Chef: Northeast are Rob Evans of Hugo’s in Portland, Clark Frasier and Mark Gaier of Arrows Restaurant in Ogunquit, Michael Leviton of Lumiere in West Newton, Mass., Tony Maws of Cragie on Main in Cambridge, Mass., and Marc Orfaly of Pigalle in Boston.
Winners will be announced May 4 in New York.
