As I walked into the Augusta Civic Center, all I could think was that we were going to bring home the state title. But I was wrong; we were not going to bring home the state title. Edward Little has not won a state championship game since 1946. The last time that the boys varsity team had won runner-up was 1957.

Assistant principal Mr. Galway said, “I did think that we were going to win in the beginning.”

In his opinion, the strongest player was Corey Therriault. Corey also won the MVP and was a semifinalist for Mr. Basketball. “He is an overall excellent player,” stated Mr. Galway.

Mr. Galway also said, “If we were to play Thornton ten times during the season, we would win nine out of ten times.”

I would be more than happy if Corey Therriault did win Mr. Basketball,” he proudly stated. “I am very excited that we made it to states, but it was a bummer that we lost by two points.”

In my opinion, the boys played well. They put up a good fight. It was a game that kept you on your feet.
