Do you ever find yourself trying to keep your eyes from slowly shutting during the day? Especially during something you really need to pay attention in, like school or work? Sleep benefits our bodies in so many ways, and without enough sleep your body has trouble staying healthy. Sleeping is very important in systems throughout your body. The main system that sleep effects in your body is your immune system. Have you ever experienced getting sick after a big incident in your life, that seemed to have stressed you out? If this has happen to you it is because your body did not get the adequate amount of sleep the immune system needs. Without enough sleep your immune system becomes weak and your body becomes more vulnerable to infection and illnesses. If you are stressed out from your previous day and you go straight to bed, you are most likely not to fall asleep right off. Instead you think about your day and before you know if you have been up for most of the night. Your immune system is very important because it helps you stay healthy, and if you don’t get a good amount of sleep you will find yourself getting sick more often then if you get enough sleep each night.
Not only is sleep important to the systems in your body, but sleep is also important for your memory and concentration. For example, if you have ever stayed up all night trying to finish a reading book for reading class the next day, you will notice the next day that you don’t remember anything you read. This is because when you are sleeping your brain organizes memories, and improves concentration. If you do not get enough sleep you will find it hard to remember anything you learned the previous day and would also find it very hard to concentrate on the new things you are learning that day. Make sure to get enough sleep every night so that you can continue to learn and remember new things everyday without the trouble of trying to stay awake at the same time. Not only is it a bad hassle to try and stay awake during class, but it is also not beneficial to your school work if you can not concentrate or remember previous lessons you have already learned or are now learning.
Lastly, sleeping also effects your capability of staying productive in activities and work. When you don’t get enough sleep a common symptom is drowsiness. When you are tired all you feel like doing is going to sleep and not doing anything else. This will lead to homework not being done on time, grades dropping, and very little participation in class, or sporting events. Especially if you have a big project due or you are helping do work around the house, you will have difficulties and most of the time will not do a very good job on whatever it was you were assigned to do. No one wants to feel this way when working throughout the day, and that is why you should get enough sleep every day so you can give 100% in everything you participate in that day.
Sleep is one of the most important things in life that you need to get a lot of every night. Every age is different but depending on your age you should get a good amount of sleep each night. Without a good amount of sleep your immune system weakens, your memory and concentration decreases, and your capability of doing something the right way is rare.
People in Maine should learn from this article that without the right amount of sleep your life is not at its best. Most teenagers should get nine to ten hours of sleep a night, while adults could last on seven to eight hours a night.
