LEWISTON – A Lenten retreat, “By His Wounds We Are Healed,” will be given by the Rev. Bob Vaillancourt from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Holy Cross Church, 1080 Lisbon St. There will also be a period of Taize prayer and song as well as Eucharistic Adoration.

“Taize” is named after the ecumenical community founded by Brother Roger in Taize, France, in the 1940s. Today the Taize community is made up of more than a hundred brothers, Catholic and Protestant alike, coming from more than 25 nations.

Through the use of candles and an atmosphere of reverence, participants, using praise and song, enter into a deeper communion and reconciliation with God and one another.

Vaillancourt, a native of Lewiston and a retreat master, is director of vocations for the Diocese of Maine. He has also served as pastor of many parishes in Maine over the past 27 years. He has also led many pilgrimages to holy sites throughout the world.
