AUBURN – The Edward Little Music Association will hold a spaghetti supper and silent auction from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.

The cost is $7 a person; free, children under 5. Auction viewing will begin at 4:30 p.m. Auburn Mayor John Jenkins will be on hand again this year to support the event.

Proceeds will support the music programs at the middle school and high school.

“The Edward Little High School music program is an important force in Auburn’s community,” said Fine Arts Department Head and Band Director Jennifer Fortin. “We perform at many civic events and support such community members as the veterans of the Twin Cities, among others. As a part of the music program, we educate the total student and plan various trips and activities that teach the students organizational skills, money skills and responsibility for oneself and others.”

Some members of the band and chorus will travel to Washington, D.C., this spring. “We are taking 39 students who will participate in a band and chorus clinic with local music professional conductors, as well as a public performance on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial,” said Fortin.

“This is a great opportunity for these students to learn how to budget their money, raise the funds necessary to go and explore our rich cultural history and heritage. We are very excited to by going to our nation’s capital and look forward to this learning experience with our students.”

Auction items will include tickets to an April 4 Boston Bruins game, an overnight for two with breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn, tickets to the Maine Music Theater, tickets to Community Little Theater, gift certificates from local merchants and restaurants, and greens fees with cart rental at Fairlawn Golf Course.

Those attending will be entertained by small student ensembles of instrumental and vocal musicians throughout the evening. Auction items will be on display and typical silent auction procedures will be the rule.
