LEWISTON – Theresa W. Beal, 59, a resident of the Brown Road, Pownal, had fought her diabetes courageously but died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 24, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Portland, Sept. 3, 1949, the daughter of Albert and Colleen (Wyman) Cook. She attended North Yarmouth and Cumberland schools, and was a 1967 graduate of Greely High School. She then graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a teaching degree. She was a fifth-grade teacher beginning at Libby Tozier Elementary, and continued with the new elementary school, Carrie Ricker Elementary, teaching for more than 35 years in Litchfield.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed scrapbooking, arts and crafts, as well as spending time with family especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of Head Beach and Small Point, and spending quality time there with family and friends.

Besides her parents of Brunswick, she is survived by her husband, Leroy Weston Beal III of Pownal; two sons, Leroy Weston Beal IV and wife, Jennifer, of Auburn and Joshua Riley Beal of Bowdoin; two daughters, Jessica Allyn Harlow and husband, Anthony, of Lewiston and Colleen Constance Beal and partner, Sarah, of Burlington, Vt.; one brother, Albert Cook Jr. and wife, Charlotte, of West Hartford, Conn.; six sisters, Christine Peterson and husband, Tom, of Brunswick, Constance Mott and husband, Russell, of Brunswick, Rochelle Petersen and husband, Mark of Falmouth, Phyllis Burcham and husband, Cary, of Land-O-Lakes, Fla., Andrea Noble and husband, Renn, of Kennebunk and Adrienne Cook of Massachusetts; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was generous all her life, and organ donation was her last gift.
