JAY – Jay High School Math Team took first place overall at Wednesday’s Mountain Valley Conference Math Meet at the school.

Jay earned 297 points, Hall-Dale High School, 271 points and Boothbay Region High School, 260 points, Jay team adviser Annette Girardin said.

The top three senior scorers were Josh Richardson from Dirigo High School with 50 points, Jake Johnson from Jay, 36 points, and Masayuki Kaneka from Hall-Dale, 31 points.

The top two junior scorers were Wyatt Colby from Boothbay, 35 points, and Phil Coffren from Mt. Abram High School in Salem Township, 34 points.

Top sophomore scorer was Teresa Withee from Hall-Dale at 32 points.

The meet helps math team members prepare for the state competition on Tuesday, April 7, in Bangor.
