SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) – Police have charged a 17-year-old central New York boy with messaging a sexually explicit video to a 13-year-old girl’s cell phone after striking up a relationship on a social networking site.

Joseph Giordano, a 10th-grader at Cicero-North Syracuse High School, faces charges of second-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say one of the girl’s parents saw the video and called authorities.

Investigators say the two began a relationship on MySpace.com last fall. Giordano never met the girl, who goes to middle school in the same district, but was routinely texting her cell phone.

Giordano will be arraigned in the town of Cicero on April 7. Police did not know Thursday if he has a lawyer.
