Dear Sun Spots: I have been searching for someone who can make a canopy for my portable gazebo. Maybe some of your readers can help. It needs to be a waterproof canvas material and have a couple of zippers. I have the old canopy that can be used for a pattern. I may be reached at 689-5051. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, consider contacting Bags From Mars, a stitching company in Lewiston, at 225-5984. We spoke with the owner, who feels they should be able to help. Leave a message if they’re not in and someone will return your call.

Dear Sun Spots: We love your informative column and are so disappointed that the recipe column isn’t printed in some other space. These recipes are far different from the wonderful ones sent in to your column from reader requests.

Some were secret recipes from restaurants, some from traditional family recipes, all exceptional. These are not found in cookbooks, nor on packaging as they are not ordinary recipes.

We’ve enjoyed every one and they are most treasured and saved. Always thankful for your faithful readers that take the time to send in information and requests. Yours has always been the column that has been cut out and saved. – No Name, Mexico.

Answer:
Sun Spots thanks you for sharing your thoughts and wants to remind all readers that the column is being temporarily trimmed to accommodate the “Tough People, Smart Money” thrifty cook recipes. It will return to its original format at the conclusion of the series. Also note that Saturday’s column has been expanded during this time.

Dear Sun Spots: In answer to an item in the March 12 column, I send my used greeting cards to the Chapman House, attn: Sheryll Seger, 41 Pleasant St., Auburn, ME 04210.

Also, someone was looking for long green cuke seeds. They have them in Veseys seed catalog out of Canada. The address to get a catalog is P.O. Box 9000, Charlottetown, PE, Canada, C1A 8K6. – F.C., Dixfield.

Answer: The activities director at the Chapman House said they are still accepting used greeting cards for crafts and other activities. Also, you may contact Veseys at 1-800-363-7333 for a catalog.
