Deanne Danforth once again complains about Israel by following the Palestinian propaganda line. (Letter, March 23.)

The land Israel occupies is described by the U.N. as “disputed”; not Palestinian, not Syrian. This is land occupied as a result of wars started by, and lost by, the Arabs.

She further complains that Israel refuses to negotiate with Hamas, a terrorist organization that the U.S. also refuses to recognize. Experience shows that officials of Hamas cannot be trusted. Their cease-fires never really cease, and are only excuses to re-arm.

She mentions that following World War II, both Israel and Palestinian states were mandated by the U.N. She fails to mention that the Palestinians refused their state and immediately invaded Israel in an effort to drive the Israelis into the sea.

She states that the tunnels from Gaza to Egypt provide access to basic human needs. Since much food, medicine, fuel and water is provided by Israel, I guess her conception of “human needs” consists of guns, ammunition and rockets.

About a month ago, Danforth stated in a letter to the editor that she pitied all human misery, including that in Darfur, Somalia and Tibet, but I don’t recall seeing one letter from her castigating the perpetrators of that human slaughter, rape and inhumanity. She only complains about Israel, the one Middle East nation that is a true democracy and is known to meticulously avoid civilians when it retaliates for Hamas’ rockets aimed at Israeli civilians.
