LEWISTON – The Lewiston CareerCenter announces expanded hours of operation and the April workshop schedule.

To accommodate the increased need for services, the Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way, has expanded its hours to Saturdays and early morning hours. The new hours are: Monday and Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday hours are effective until June 27.

The workshop schedule for April includes:

“Job Search Skills,” April 4 or April 14 or April 18 or April 28, 10 a.m.-noon. Learn how to conduct an effective job search and explore how employers hire and methods to use in a job search that will lead to success. Registration required. Call 753-9005 or TTY: 877-796-9833.

“Career Decision Making,” April 6, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with follow-up on April 10, 9 a.m.-noon; or April 13, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with follow-up on April 17, 9 a.m.-noon; or April 21, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., with follow-up on April 24, 9 a.m.-noon. This is a two-part workshop for those thinking about a career change and are not sure what job would best suit their needs. The workshop explores the different factors that affect career decisions; helps people identify interests, aptitudes and experience; discusses the tools available to research education and labor market information; and, guides people in developing a career plan. The CareerCenter has added adult education and higher education advisers for people who are considering skill upgrades to enhance their resumes and job search options.

An adult education adviser will be available every Wednesday beginning April 1, from 10:15-11 a.m. Registration is not required. Learn about options to improve job skills and which adult education programs or classes will best meet needs based on interests and career goals.

A higher education adviser will be available April 6, 10, 17 and 24, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Registration is not required, but call to verify they are coming in. A college adviser will talk about options to attend college. They will help attendees explore college choices based on interests and career goals; and talk about financial aid to make college a reality.
