AUBURN – Ethan Grund of Auburn, a senior at Edward Little High School, has been selected to receive the 2009 Principal’s Award, Principal James Miller has announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

Assistant Principal Leslie Morrill said that throughout his four years at ELHS, Ethan has risen to the top scholastically and athletically. She said, “His outstanding leadership both in the classroom and in the school community has made Ethan the choice for this award. President of NHS, a member of the executive board for his class, a council member for the ninth-grade orientation program and a natural, charismatic leader, are just some of the activities and traits that define Ethan.”

Morrill said, “He carries these qualities with him onto the athletic arena (soccer, basketball and track) as his self-discipline and strong sense of commitment to the sport and to his teammates are indicative of his desire to improve himself and his teammates. Although there are many outstanding seniors in this graduating class, Ethan deserves to be recognized by this award for his service to others and his performance in the classroom and on the fields. He very much deserves this award.”

Grund and Assistant Principal Steve Galway will attend an Honors Luncheon Saturday, April 4, at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.
