WILTON – The Palm Sunday liturgy at 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday, April 5, will begin in the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church undercroft as the congregation blesses and distributes the palms.
They will go upstairs to process around the church singing “All Glory, Laud and Honor.” The scripture will take them to the Passion Gospel and they will break bread together.
The Thursday, April 9 Maundy Thursday twin themes at 7 p.m. will be the Last Supper, “Do this in remembrance of me,” and “A new commandment I give you, that you love one another.” At the conclusion, the altar will be stripped and the congregation will linger briefly in quiet and darkness in anticipation of Good Friday.
The April 10, Good Friday services will be at noon in Farmington and 7 p.m. in Wilton.
The FAEM service, at the Old South Church, will include a noon lunch with cast members of the production, “Cast Off.” Churches are asked to bring bread. Following the play, the church will be open for meditation and prayer.
The Wilton Ecumenical Service will be at 7 p.m. at the Dryden Baptist Church.
The Great Vigil of Easter at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 11, will see the congregation light the paschal candle in the dark and hear the Easter acclamation.
An Easter sunrise service will be held on Voter Hill at 6:01 a.m., rain or shine. The annual ecumenical service will be followed by breakfast.
Eucharist at 8 and 10 a.m. will include the gospel of Jesus’ resurrection. An Easter egg hunt will follow the 10 a.m. service.
