I am writing to support LD1181, an Act to Create Jobs Through Investments in Green Energy. As a young person and an environmentalist, it is crucial to me to see this bill passed. I think this is a wonderful opportunity to retrofit our old, inefficient homes and workplaces.

An emphasis on increasing energy efficiency will not only reduce greenhouse gases, a critical goal and a responsibility that must be faced, but it will also save money.

The influx of jobs created through work and new training will provide a necessary boost to the economy and relief to the unemployed.

As someone who will soon graduate college, I would like to see more available jobs in Maine that will enable graduates to remain in the area. This bill is the practical choice to strengthen the state’s energy standards, increase efficiency and revitalize Maine’s economy.
