LEWISTON – The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon program series at USM/L-A College on Friday, April 10, will feature a presentation by Dennis Sweetser on “Getting Your Garden Ready for Spring.”

Sweetser is a member of the Senior College board of directors and a frequent course instructor. A native of Auburn and a graduate of Bates College, he is retired from the Auburn school system where he taught science at Edward Little High School.

Sweetser has more than sixty years of farming and gardening experience. He will discuss soil preparation and composting, maximizing garden space, how to put the garden to bed in the fall and will recommend vegetable varieties for the home garden.

L-A Senior College, now celebrating its 10th year, presents the monthly noon luncheon program in the Function Room 170 at USM/L-A. The cost, which includes lunch, is $7 with advance reservation or $8 at the door, opening at 11:30 a.m.

Reservations must be made no later than Thursday, April 9, by phone at 753-6510. Any late callers will be considered as “at the door.”
