AUBURN – Antonia “Tony” Boucher passed away peacefully Friday, March 27, of natural causes. She was 96 years old.
Tony was born Dec. 2, 1912, in Thedford Mines, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Emile and Marie Mathieu Pomerleau. She was educated in Canadian schools. Her family moved to Lewiston, where she continued her schooling, then resided the remainder of her life. She spent many years at 54 Walnut St., then later at Chestnut Place.
She married Theodore Boucher on Feb. 26, 1930. Together they raised two sons, Ray and Fern.
She was a homemaker, but also worked at Turner Shoe Mfg. Co. and at Marcotte Home prior to her retirement. She was a devout Catholic and member of Saints Peter & Paul’s Parish Society and Lewiston Senior Citizens.
Although tiny in stature, Tony was a resilient and somewhat stubborn woman. She always had an opinion and spoke her mind She was also a “jokester” and always enjoyed a good laugh, even if it was at her own expense. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards and cooking.
Although she never obtained a driver’s license, this didn’t slow her down a bit. She could be seen riding the city bus all over Lewiston-Auburn to go shopping and to have her hair done. Whether she traveled to Buckfield, Hartford or as far as Florida, Tony loved being with family and especially enjoyed being around her great-grandchildren. They always brought a smile to her face. She never forgot a birthday and found great pleasure in giving gifts at Christmas.
Tony will be missed by a grandson, Skip Boucher and his wife, Elaine, of Buckfield; a granddaughter, Tina Ball of Orlando, Fla.; a granddaughter, Nikki St.Pierre and her husband, Phil, of Hartford; daughters-in-law, Dolores Dumont Boucher of Florida and Janice Boucher Caron and husband, Ron, of Hartford. She leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, Sammy, Ammie, Megan, Ryan, Dakota, Sierra, Christopher, Ryan and Sophie; and three great-great granddaughters, Charlotte, Abigale and Shelly of Texas.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Theodore; her four sisters and three brothers; a son, Fernand, in 1994, and a son, Raynald, in 1997. She also suffered the loss of a grandson, Roland, in 1996 and a granddaughter, Sandy, in 2008.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bolster Heights Health Care Facilities for their loving care of Tony.
