I congratulate Bonnie Washuk on her story about the former mayor of Lewiston, Kaleigh Tara, and her son (Sun Journal, March 29). I’m sure the story will be the topic of discussion at both Lewiston and Auburn city buildings.

Shame on Lewiston-Auburn for the lack of compassion, and lack of conformity to standards or morality for allowing the former mayor and her son to live under such adverse conditions.

I believe that if the former mayor and her son were non-Americans, the cities would have rolled out the red carpet and provided them with shelter, food, cash and transportation immediately.

Shame on Lewiston-Auburn for not coming forward to help one of their own.
