As one of many senior citizens in the Lewiston-Auburn area, I am in favor of the proposed legislation LD 400. Many of us live independently in the seniors’ apartments, and have come to appreciate home care when we need it. The Meals on Wheels program is a definite plus to those who cannot get out and/or are home bound.
The support of SeniorsPlus is gratefully received by us all. Our once-a-week senior meals are looked forward to by many of us.
Here at the Auburn Townehouse, there are many residents with walkers or wheelchairs, and when we have to do grocery shopping, or have a doctor’s appointment, we depend on the city bus, Community Concepts and/or Western Maine Transportation. The drivers are so helpful and accommodating. They always greet us and are concerned for us and our safety. I certainly appreciate that.
I urge elected representatives to support LD 400. The senior population is growing by leaps and bounds, and the assistance is greatly needed in this area.
