LIVERMORE FALLS – An advisory committee overseeing a grant program focusing on improving downtown business building facades has approved seven applications.

The town received a Community Development Block Grant of $150,000 in 2008. The amount to be awarded after administrative and architect costs is about $120,000, said Amy Landry of Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, who is administrating the grant for the town.

Each business, if it accepts the grant, has to match each $1 awarded with a $1 of its own.

The Community Development Advisory Committee approved applications for:

• Kenny Jacques, $25,000 for a Depot Street building;

• Richard Baillargeon, $15,000 for the Nason Block on Depot Street;

• Maine’s Paper and Heritage Museum, $25,000 for museum at 22 Church St.;

• Norm Paradis, $15,000 for the Chuck Wagon Restaurant;

• Tom Roy, $3,000 for Fitness Stylz;

• Androscoggin Properties LF LLC, $7,000, 20 Main Street (building that houses Weber Insurance Co.; and

• Wayne and Pat Knowlton, $25,000, 16 Main St., adjacent to Weber Insurance building.

The owners will review their grant awards and decide whether to go forward with it, Landry said. They could also make changes as long as it fits within the guidelines, she said.

The committee awarded $115,000 in grants, she said. Ten applications were received, she said.
