We’ve all gone through it. We used to be obsessed with cartoons, different toys, and even Barney and friends, but, now, we teenagers deny our love for these things. Hamtaro, Transformers, even Lilo and Stitch have been denounced as ‘too immature’ or ‘for little kids’ by those 10 or above. Here’s the real problem: Kids think they need to grow up all too fast! As it is, there are kids in our school who act like they’re 18, in more ways than one. It’s not an abomination for teenagers to like things other than rap music, technology such as many different web-connected cell phones, and the newest styles of clothes.
Now, let me ask the students: What’s wrong with cartoons? Teenagers seem to sneer at the idea of loosening up, and being themselves, because they’re worried about being thought less of by their peers. That’s a silly excuse, but it’s true. After all, when you ask a student for their opinion on Nickelodeon, they may laugh, and walk away. I would say that the company aims for laughter from their viewers, and succeeds when I am one of the many viewers.
Think twice when you flip the channels; the nightly news, soap operas, or Spongebob Squarepants? Unless you don’t want a laugh, you’d pick the news or Guiding Light. Although, having a sense of humor is a very good talent, and even laughing at a crabby patty flying through the air is a good thing.
