RUMFORD – Twenty-four people have applied for the town manager’s job, more than selectmen were expecting.

Selectmen’s Chairman J. Arthur Boivin said Thursday “it’s nice to get this many.”

The board met last week in executive session to screen resumes.

“We are trying to set up interview times, but it is not done as yet,” Selectman Frank DiConzo said Thursday.

DiConzo is in charge of the search process.

“Hopefully, we will make selections and be able to appoint someoneon in time for the June election night, when we actually have to appoint someone by. Hopefully, we’ll get done sooner than that,” DiConzo said.

The person hired will succeed interim Town Manager Len Greaney, who has served the past eight months.
