LIVERMORE FALLS – Judy Harvey is looking forward to her new job as superintendent of SAD 36.
Harvey, of Hallowell, was hired by the school board Thursday night. She will begin July 1. She currently is superintendent of SAD 50 in the Thomaston area, which serves about 1,000 students in five schools.
“I am excited about my new appointment,” Harvey said. “Knowing that I was choosing to leave my current position, I was very selective about where I applied. I wanted a smaller district in Central Maine with a proven willingness to keep the focus on students, one where I could really dig into the work of improving student achievement in an atmosphere of team-building and collaboration. While this statement may sound like it comes out of an education textbook, working in this kind of environment is my passion.”
In addition, she said, she likes working in a place that has a strong community surrounding the schools.
“SAD 36 quickly emerged as my first choice, and I feel extremely fortunate that I have been given the opportunity to join the district,” Harvey said. “I am anxious to make the transition, and to get to know the board, administrators, teachers, staff and community members. I have lots to learn and look forward to the challenge!”
SAD 36 serves Livermore and Livermore Falls.
