NORWAY – Rene “Pete” Potvin, 76, of Minot, died very unexpectedly April 10, at Stevens Memorial Hospital in Norway.

He was born Nov. 26, 1932, the son of Rene and Irma Potvin. He worked in local shoe shops, Belmoc Shoe, Timberland Shoe, Eastland Shoe and Norway Footwear until his retirement at age 62. He spent his remaining years with his family, working on his farm, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, cutting firewood and time at his cabin in the woods.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jacqueline Gagne Potvin; children, Paul and wife, Jeanine, of Mechanic Falls, Dennis and wife, Sharon, of Poland, Gary and wife, Diane, of Raymond, Janine and husband, Randy Coleman, of Minot; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Scott, Tyson, Jessica and Jacqueline; five great-grandchildren, Brianna, Bryce, Nicholas, Makayla and Cooper; a brother, Laurier Potvin of Auburn; a special cousin and friend, Roland Potvin of Poland; and a longtime hunting and fishing partner, Lionel Gauvin of Fairport N.Y.
