MEREDITH, N.H. (AP) -Two Massachusetts women escaped serious injury when their car ended up in New Hampshire’s Lake Winnepesaukee.
Police say 22-year-old Jennifer McCarthy of Billerica, Mass., lost control of her car Saturday evening, hitting a curb, sailing over the docks of the Meredith Yacht Club and landing in Meredith Bay.
According to The Citizen newspaper of Laconia, she and an 18-year-old female passenger got out through the windows and swam ashore. The car, which was in about five feet of water, was towed out with the help of Meredith firefighters.
