LEWISTON – The Central Maine Medical Center Rotating Art Gallery is featuring Michelle Giard of Harpswell and June Dragoon of West Peru as the April artists of the month.

Giard was educated in Auburn schools and is a 1985 graduate of Edward Little High School. She received a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Southern Maine in 1991, and received a master of fine arts in 1995 from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

In 2000, she received a kindergarten through 12th grade art teaching certificate and taught in Auburn elementary schools and at Brunswick Junior High School. She left teaching in 2005 to be a full-time stay-at-home mom.

Giard enjoys working in oil paints and believes that art should be truthful and add beauty to life. She is now selling her art to stay home with her family.

Dragoon, owner of Hillside Art Gallery in West Peru, is a self-taught artist constantly learning and striving to improve her technique. She has studied with a number of well-known artists and has exhibited in many galleries and has paintings in private collections throughout the world.

Dragoon works in a variety of mediums and said the versatility of watercolor “is magic.” She enjoys painting New England scenes and florals and has recently been commissioned to do several portraits. She enjoys alpine skiing, mountain climbing and camping with her family.

The Central Maine Medical Center Rotating Art Gallery is sponsored by the Woman’s Hospital Association in its ongoing effort to support patients with fundraising projects throughout the year.
