AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) – The US Airways pilot who safely landed his plane in New York’s Hudson River is getting another accolade. This one is from the Air Force Academy in Colorado, where he graduated in 1973.

Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger will get the Col. James Jabara Award for Airmanship on Wednesday.

Sullenberger’s plane was struck by geese and lost power after taking off on Jan. 15. All 155 people aboard survived.

Sullenberger plans to take a glider flight at the academy on Thursday. He was a glider instructor pilot while he was a cadet at the academy.
