LEWISTON – A woman was arrested today and charged with elevated aggravated assault, police said in a written release.
Jessica Palmer, 29, was arrested at 2:35 a.m. at 32 Walnut St. Officers responded to a report of a stabbing which had just occurred. Upon arrival, they discovered a male subject suffering from a severe stab wound to his chest.

The stabbing victim, Alfred Palmer, 54, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition, Lt. Mark Cornelio said.

Neighbors called police to report the domestic disturbance.
As of Friday afternoon, Palmer was being held at Androscoggin County Jail. Her bail is set at $5,000 cash or surety, Cornelio said.
