Tanner Burgess, 7, drops garbage into a trash bag held by his mom Rosy at Montello Elementary School in Lewiston on Friday. Students in Amanda Winslow’s first-grade classroom cleaned up the school grounds in observance of Earth Day. Winslow said the class was talking about how they can make a difference when her student, Isaha L’Heureux, came up with the idea to pick up trash. Rosy Tanner volunteers three hours per day at her son’s school. Students will be on spring break during the official Earth Day, April 22.
