BREWSTER, Mass. – Laurier “Larry” Paul Malo, 84, of Brewster, Mass., died Tuesday, April 14, on Cape Cod, Mass., after a brief illness.

He was born on May 17, 1924, in Lewiston. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1942, before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps as a flight engineer on a B25. For 38 years, Larry owned and operated Malo Cleaners in Auburn. Upon retirement, he and his wife Gloria worked together at the Hillsboro Club in Pompano Beach, Fla., and summered at Range Pond Campground in Poland, before settling in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

For many years, he was an avid supporter of youth athletics including the early development of the Auburn Suburban Little League in the early 1960s. Upon moving to Deerfield Beach, he was a member of the Citizens Observer Patrol (COP) in Broward County, Fla., and a participant in The Way International biblical research, teaching, and fellowship ministry.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Beals of Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; his son, Michael Malo of Florida, and his son and daughter-in-law, Bradford and Suzanne Malo of Brewster, Mass.; four grandchildren, Brad Beals, Jeanna Beals, Alyson Krauss Yorlano and Zachary Krauss; and a sister, Lorraine Hodgins of Topsham.

He was predeceased in 2004 by his beloved wife of 56 years, Gloria (Smart).
