Dear Sun Spots: Would you know where one might find some one who teaches the German language in the Western Maine area? – Mark, Rumford.

Answer: Sun Spots found a few options for you, however we were unable to locate someone specifically in the Western Maine area. Perhaps you would be willing to travel for instruction? If you are, contact Georgette Dumais in the Language Department at Bates College at 786-8293. She may be able to put you in touch with an advanced student or instructor who may be able to help. Also consider contacting Claudia Topplep, who was a German exchange student at Edward Little High School in 1999 and is currently residing in Auburn. Topplep or her husband may be able to provide lessons. She can be contacted through e-mail, claudia.topplep@web.de. You may also e-mail Gisela Hoecherl-Alden, associate professor of German at the University of Maine at Orono who could possible locate someone in the Bangor area. He e-mail is Gisela_Hoecherl_Alden@umit.maine.edu

Dear Sun Spots: I have three things to say. First, thank you so much for the service you do for the community. Second, would the gentleman who inquired about a lost hat while attending the Woman’s Literary Union Holiday Open House in December, please call Cathy at 783-9485. And third, the union will be presenting its annual Mother-Daughter-Doll Enchanted Tea, Saturday, April 25. It is a wonderful way for little girls and their mothers, grandmothers, aunts and friends to enjoy an afternoon of story telling, refreshments and shopping in the Doll Boutique. There will be door prizes and the American Girl doll Chrissa will be raffled. Doors open at 12:30; adults $6 and children 12 and under $2. This fundraiser helps the WLU to maintain the former Foss mansion, which is on the register of historic places, so that it will remain a historical and aesthetic landmark for the Twin Cities. For more information, call Janet at 783-3762. Thank you. – C.W. Lewiston
