LEBANON, Ohio – Howard Stanley DeGroot, 85, of Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Dixfield, died Friday, April 17.

He was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Walworth, N.Y., to Isaac and Nettie (nee: Hermanet) DeGroot. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of Aurora University.

A research chemist for Boise Cascade Co. for 36 years. He held two patents for paper production. He was a member of the technical association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) and an active member with the Rumford First Baptist Church in Maine and the First Baptist Church in Lebanon.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Patricia (nee: Adams) DeGroot of Lebanon; two daughters, Susan (Johnson W.) McRorie of Lebanon and Judith (Gary) Hendricks of Swayzee, Ind.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; and one sister, Jane Naylor.
