LEWISTON – Police said the condition of a stabbing victim was improving Tuesday.

Alfred Palmer, 54, was critically injured last week. Police said he was stabbed in the chest with a life-threatening wound. He was taken on Friday to Central Maine Medical Center where he was hospitalized.

Jessica Palmer, 29, was arrested and charged with elevated aggravated assault in connection with her husband’s stabbing.
She was released Tuesday morning from Androscoggin County Jail on $2,500 unsecured bond, a clerk at Androscoggin County Superior Court said.

Palmer is scheduled to appear in that court on May 28.
