Lunch, learn
RUMFORD – Rumford Community Home will host a free Lunch and Learn session from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at 11 JF Kennedy Lane.
The topic will be “Put a Spring in Your Step,” featuring a talk presented by a certified physical therapist from Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. Information will be provided on getting fit. To reserve a space, call 364-7863.
Assembly day
AUGUSTA – Approximately 1,900 Jehovah’s Witnesses from Central Maine will gather for the annual Special Assembly Day on Sunday, April 26, at the Civic Center. The scriptural theme will be: “Keep Watching the Ministry … That You Fulfill It”: Colossians 4:17.
The visiting speaker will be Randall Turcot from the Patterson, N.Y., Educational Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He will speak on “How We Recommend Ourselves as Ministers” and “Highly Esteem Your Ministry.” A local speakers will be Michael Smallwood of Waterville. The subject of his talk will be “Baptized in the Name of the Holy Spirit.”
The public is invited. Admission is free and no collections will be taken.
Taking applicants
RICHMOND – ASSE International Student Exchange is accepting applications from host families for the 2009-10 academic year. Student come from Europe, Asia, North and South America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
Students are screened, insured, speak English and come with their own spending money. They arrive from their home country shortly before school begins and return at the end of the school year.
Host families provide room, board and guidance. Each student expects to bear his or her share of the household responsibilities as well as be included in normal family activities.
