PARIS – An Oxford County grand jury has charged a Rumford man with raping a young woman two years ago in a Mexico trailer park.

After being indicted Thursday, Joshua A. Tibbetts, 21, of 156 Route 108, was summoned on a charge of gross sexual assault.

According to Mexico police Chief Jim Theriault, the incident happened the night before Sept. 7, 2007, in the Pine Street Trailer Park.

Officer Dean Benson took the initial complaint, but Sgt. Roy Hodsdon investigated it.

“It has taken so long because Roy was waiting for DNA test results and statements from those involved,” Theriault said. He did not provide additional details.

A court date has not been set.
