JAY – Kyle DeMillo scattered six hits and drew ample run support as Jay kicked off its 2009 baseball season with a 13-2 romp over Mt. Abram Thursday.

Grant Richards and Jared Ouellette led the mighty Tigers (1-0) with two hits and two RBIs each. Richards hits were highlighted by a double that triggered a five-run second inning by Jay. Greg Dexter and Hank Poulin led the Roadrunners (0-1) with doubles.

Lake Region 7, Gray-New Gloucester 3

GRAY – Austin Ward belted out a pair of hits and had three RBIs Thursday as Lake Region handed Gray-New Gloucester a 7-3 loss in WMC baseball action.

Travis Linehan also contributed for the Lakers (1-1) with two hits and one RBI. Tom Vaneuuwen gave up three hits in six innings for the win.

The Patriots (1-1) received doubles from Bill Chaplin and Dave McCutchen. Lake Region jumped out to a 5-0 advantage in the first two innings and was never challenged.

Edward Little 11, Morse 1

AUBURN – Shane Ciriello struck out five, gave up two walks and just one hit as Edward Little rolled to a 11-1 victory over Morse in a five-inning KVAC baseball tilt Thursday afternoon.

Ciriello (1-0) was supported at the plate by Cody Goddard and Malcom Souders, combining for four hits and two RBIs. Devin Flynn and Shawn Hird also contributed for the Red Eddies (1-0) with doubles.

Lewiston 15, Leavitt 1

TURNER – Alex Wong struck out eight batters and drew plenty of run support as Lewiston trounced Leavitt, 15-1, in another KVAC baseball matchup Thursday.

David Ouellette led the Blue Devils’ (1-0) offensive effort with three hits and three RBIs, highlighted by a triple. Conrad Leblond also contributed with two hits, while Scott Ouellette belted a double. The Hornets (0-1) utilized six different pitchers in the contest, led by starter Jordan Seeley.

Lacrosse

Oak Hill 7, Camden Hills 3

CAMDEN – Tony Siderio registered a hat trick Thursday to lead Oak Hill to a 7-3 victory over Camden Hills in a KVAC boy’s lacrosse matchup.

Nate Rolston chipped in for the Raiders (1-1) with two goals, while single tallies by Will Aronson and Tyler Gagnon competed the scoring. Nick Flaherty and Zach Leeman also contributed with assists for Oak Hill. Nick Cody and Caleb Fournier combined for 11 saves to post the win.

Camden Hills (0-2) received goals from Zack Nelson, Ben Dufour and Vinny Kowalski.

Evan Viana turned aside six shots between the posts.
