NEWRY — Five people were arrested Tuesday afternoon after an investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and local police departments into the trafficking of prescription painkillers.

Police arrested 22-year-old Brady “Gump” Wilson of West Bethel Road in Bethel on two counts of trafficking in OxyContin; Nicole “Nikki” Terry, 27, of Bear River Road in Newry on two counts of aggravated trafficking in Oxycontin; Krystal Dill, 22, of Bear River Road in Newry on one count of aggravated trafficking in OxyContin; and Kevin Litchfield, 21, of King Street in Oxford and Megan Manson, 19, of Stearns Hill Road in Paris on one count each of trafficking in OxyContin.
Police discovered 24 budding marijuana plants, cultivation equipment, seven Zoloft tablets, one Suboxone tablet, a pill crusher, and a laptop believed to have been stolen from a local school near Wilson’s residence. OxyContin, Percocet, and Ecstasy pills were seized at Terry and Dill’s residence, along with $700 in cash, according to police.
MDEA supervisor Gerry Baril said the agency and Bethel Police Department began the investigation after receiving complaints about prescription drug trafficking by a person nicknamed “Gump.” The MDEA started an investigation with the Oxford Police Department in December and the Bethel Police in January.
During the investigation, police made two controlled purchases of OxyContin from Wilson and found that Terry was supplying Wilson with the pills. Baril alleges Terry and Dill purchased pills from an out-of-state source.
Terry’s charge is aggravated due to a past drug conviction in Florida, while Dill’s charge is aggravated due to the discovery of two 9 mm handguns that Baril said were used for protection during drug sales.
Baril said Litchfield and Manson were arrested when police arrived at the Newry residence and interrupted a drug sale between Terry and Manson. Litchfield was found hiding in the trunk of Manson’s vehicle.
